Responsabilities

General Overview:The General Household Manager is responsible for maintaining the interior of all buildings on the employer's estates and ensuring that these spaces are ready to receive their owners, children, families, and guests under the required conditions at all times. They oversee the Housekeeping and Laundry team, organizing and assisting with their tasks as necessary.

Responsibilities:

Management:

  • Coordinate daily operations and oversee all housekeeping teams, including chambermaids, housekeepers, and laundry staff.
  • Manage team schedules and ensure adequate staffing levels, managing hours and vacation days effectively.
  • Foster team well-being and motivation through effective management practices, including communication, meetings, evaluations, and recognition.
  • Develop and implement procedures related to housekeeping functions, in coordination with the Estate Manager and Superintendent.
  • Collaborate closely with the Estate Manager and Butlers On Duty, serving as a hierarchical reference in the absence of the Estate Manager.
  • Report significant events concerning team members regularly to the Estate Manager and Superintendent.
  • Train teams across residences, identifying needs and ensuring adherence to defined processes.
  • Identify and nurture talent within the team for career advancement opportunities.
  • Assume temporary hierarchical authority over local staff when traveling abroad.

Interior Work:

  • Ensure daily cleaning and organization of residences, maintaining cleanliness and orderliness meticulously.
  • Manage maintenance of all property facilities, equipment, and personal effects, organizing regular and deep cleaning schedules throughout the year.
  • Oversee laundering of bedding and towels, ensuring regular cleaning, ironing, and storage maintenance.
  • Prepare bedrooms and bathrooms meticulously, including beddings and linen services.
  • Handle luggage preparation for family trips and provide training to team members.
  • Maintain and manage the family's wardrobe, ensuring proper upkeep and adherence to employer's standards.
  • Manage floral arrangements, including ordering, watering, and cleaning vases.
  • Handle purchasing of cleaning products, cosmetics, and personal hygiene items, maintaining appropriate inventory level

You

  • Experience: Significant experience in household management or a related field is essential, preferably in a similar luxury residential setting.
  • Communication Skills: Proficiency in verbal and written communication in both English and French is required to effectively interact with team members and fulfill administrative duties.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities are necessary to manage team schedules, coordinate tasks, and ensure timely completion of responsibilitie.
  • Leadership Qualities: Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team, are essential for success in this role.
  • Flexibility: Must be adaptable to variable working hours, including evenings and weekends, and be willing to travel occasionally between properties as needed.
